50:42
Are you tested with practical examples in classes often? If so, are these answered in groups in class or on tests at all?
Nonye Williams
51:02
^^to piggy-back off of that, is there really even time to balance a small job and vet school? What job opportunities are there at Tufts?
Maya Reynoso Williams
52:40
Similarly, what is the average time commitment for a work-study or other jobs on campus?
Lauren Gawel V22 (she/they)
54:31
The schedule 1st-3rd year is typical - classes will essentially be 8-5, if not shorter. Studying is on your time and based on you, but you can do technically do it any time - you can even go into the anatomy lab on your own at literally any time, if you like. So, scheduling things should be fine. Scheduling during clinics gets much, much harder. You typically only know your exact schedule a day or two (max a week) before you start the 1-3 week long rotation. You should NOT have a job during clinics, but it could be manageable in earlier years.
Mallory LeBlanc
55:13
When you first get to campus, are there opportunities or events to meet classmates and make friends to have a support system and people to study with?
Maddie Dupre
55:53
During 1st to 3rd year when you're in class most of the day, do students still manage to take care of their own pets (especially dogs)? Do they bring them on campus ever?
Lauren Gawel V22 (she/they)
57:38
Pet care is super manageable in years 1-3 (pre-clinics). You are not allowed to bring them to campus, however (essentially d/t biosecurity - service dogs are obviously a different story). In clinical year, you can get pet help from lower classes! There's a FB page for that.
Rachel Kanefsky
58:09
I said this privately but for the greater group in response to meeting people in your class: We have picnics with the bigs and littles to encourage bonding and allow them to meet others, we have a SAVMA picnic/club fair, and throughout the semester the student council puts on social events to get people tp mix!
Ryan Habeck
01:01:41
How do most students find housing around campus?
Audrey P
01:05:10
Do you recommend spending a summer or two working/doing research on campus
Benedict Rauschkolb
01:05:29
Talking about summer jobs, are there international wildlife programs available over the summer?
Lauren Gawel V22 (she/they)
01:06:44
I recommend doing whatever interests you most that you think will best get you to your ultimate goal or help you figure things out during the summer! It doesn't need to be on campus, but there are many good opportunities at Tufts or that Tufts will email you about.
Audrey P
01:10:07
thank you!
Sophia Bookas
01:10:14
Does the IVM program always include some kind of research? Are you supposed to find a group for your project?

01:14:16
Dairy? lol I was a dairy major in undergrad and loved it.
Lauren Gawel V22 (she/they)
01:15:26
Housing question: There are multiple options - essentially apartment alone/apartment with partner/apartment with roommate/sharing a rented house with multiple other students. There is a housing wiki Tufts will send you with info and there is a FB group you can ask about housing in/upper classmen will regularly post about housing. For apartments, you can also do the typical apartment hunting thing on apartments.com or whatever. FB may be problematic on the whole, but admittedly very helpful via groups for school/housing/pet-sitting things.
Lauren Gawel V22 (she/they)
01:16:01
Tuition is a little less for in-staters
Christian Lugo
01:18:46

Mitch, you did great in wildlife!
Rachel Kanefsky
01:34:22
The hard part is everyone works so hard pre-vet school to say 'I want to be a vet' and that's the end of it, but now you have so many options with what type of vet you want to be. Don't let it overwhelm you and take opportunities that come your way! Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
Rachel Kanefsky
