Dr Sultana: Is there any Age limit for the applicant ?

01:45:59
Hi Dr. Sultana: no, there is no age limit.

01:47:49
Thanks Hallie Perlick.

01:49:56
Is it enough to have the initial thesis submission done and expected graduation before starting working in this fellowship, or do we have to be graduated at the moment of applying

01:50:42
Dr Sultana: Does it mean the Home Mentor should be from Asian University ?

01:51:28
Hi Diana: candidates must have received their doctorate prior to beginning the Fellowship

01:53:03
Thank you

01:53:08
Developing metrics OR validating Metrics seems very general. For instance during my PhD work(graduated last Nov.)I have data which contains some hypothesis to be tested and questions that are still open to be answered with some more samples where I did my research in Ethiopia. How is IMMANA look on this?

01:53:26
My PhD is in Retailing and Masters in Agricultural Economics, while the focus of my work is in Agribusiness and Food Systems. Am I eligible for the fellowship?

01:53:34
https://anh-academy.org/

01:54:07
Dr Sultana: the only requirement is that either the home or host mentor be physically located in Africa or Asia

01:54:30
Hi! Is that possible to apply if I am in final stage of PhD but not defended my thesis yet but will defend until April 2020 ?

01:54:44
Beyene Ademe: please raise this question during the Q&A section!

01:54:47
Thanks Hallie

01:55:49
Kudzai Mukumbi: we accept applicants who have received their terminal/doctoral degree in any area that is related to agriculture, nutrition, and health. Your application should detail how your academic background will benefit the objectives of your proposed project.

01:56:19
Hi Gezahegn - As long as you defend and pass your thesis prior to a start that is between June- December 2021, you are eligible

01:56:49
Thanks!

01:57:37
Dr Sultana: I am an Agriculturist, MSc Palnt Apthology, MSc Environmental Assessment and Management, PhD Environment.

01:59:52
Dr Sultana: Sorry there was a typing mistake :MSc Plant Pathology

02:02:24
Does one need to have existing data to apply for this round?

02:04:22
Hi Mohammed Alhaji: existing data is not a requirement, per say, for this Fellowship. As detailed in the Call for Applications, a major output of this Fellowship year is submission of your work to a peer-reviewed journal. Given the 12-month timeframe, Fellows will likely not have time to organize for data collection, collect primary data, analyze it, and prepare it for publication within the timeframe. We advise that existing data be available for this reason.

02:05:14
Hi my name is Anna Msigwa. I am walking on Water management, specifically, I work on efficient use of water in agriculture

02:09:50
Thank you all for asking great questions so far! Please note we will also have time for a Q&A after the presentation

02:30:54
Email us at immanafellowships@tufts.edu and I will reply ASAP

02:34:52
I have query regarding criteria of selection.

02:36:22
Alma and others, please feel free to type questions here, or we'll call on you to share the question out loud with the group

02:36:53
A clarification, is this only an individual fellowship or joint (2 individuals) proposals an option?

02:37:17
The Academy aims for clarity and communications here:

02:37:18
https://anh-academy.org/

02:37:23
Hi Vijaya: this is an individual Fellowship, supported by 2 mentors

02:37:30
I hope you find those online resources useful

02:37:35
Thanks Hallie

02:38:20
Thank you!!

02:39:03
Does the application require a budget submission?

02:39:21
Can you share with us the presentation?

02:39:29
Hi Abiodun: Yes, the application does require submission of a budget

02:39:49
Hi Chemeda: yes, we can post the presentation on our website along with this webinar recording.

02:40:16
Thank you!

02:40:31
Is there any template for the budget ?

02:40:37
Thanks

02:42:14
Hi Sultana: No, there is no template for the budget. There are many online resources for developing a budget for grant funding, and we expect a relatively simple and high-level budget

02:42:34
How we get host supervisor ? is there list of supervisors or we need search them form web or elsewhere?

02:42:52
Thanks Hallie.

02:43:51
Hi Gezahegn - There are no list of host mentors to chose from. Your host mentor will likely be a person from your current university or place of employment.

02:47:21
Could my previous PhD Mentor be a host mentor?

02:48:52
Is there any time limitation about how much time I have to spent in Home Mentor's country ?

02:49:22
I have two potential proposal ideas that may fit well for the IMMANA Fellowship. Can one send multiple (in my case, two) concept notes for review?

02:49:56
Hi Shruthi: yes, we are happy to provide feedback on multiple concept note. We accept only 1 full application from each candidate.

02:50:08
Thanks, Hallie!

02:50:40
Once again:Developing metrics OR validating Metrics seems very general. For instance during my PhD work(graduated last Nov.)I have data which contains some hypothesis to be tested and questions that are still open to be answered with some more samples from where I did my research in Ethiopia

02:50:52
When talking about “validation” of a measurement it makes me think about quantitative data, or does, for example, face validity also count?

02:51:02
Is this fellowship aimed at candidates at a particular stage of their careers (starting, mid-career etc.)?

02:52:11
Hi Vijaya: no, there is no particular career stage. We are looking for high impact research and applicants who are well-prepared to have high impact in their area of research or policy work

02:53:33
Hi Diana: "validation" is definitely not limited to quantitative data. We detail how we define "validation" for the purpose of this Fellowship in our Call for Applications. We welcome other types of data (qualitative, mixed methods, etc.) to measure validation of a tool/metric/method

02:54:37
I presume the fellowship is not for new data to be collected, but based on what we have to extend valid/feasible metrics. Is that not?

02:54:48
Thank you, Hallie

02:54:50
Hi Beyene: What you have described sounds like it could be a good fit for the scope of this Fellowship, depending on what specific hypotheses are left to be tested.

02:55:29
We do accept some new data collection, but for the reasons described related to timeframe and feasibility, we strongly advise that you have some existing data

02:56:12
Tanks Hallie

02:57:53
How many manuscripts could/should the fellow expected to produce for publication? One probably?

02:58:21
The expectation is for 1 journal publication, but we would always encourage additional publications!

02:58:34
Can it be a joint application 1 mentor from host Institution and 2 mentors from Bangladesh as Home mentors ?

02:58:49
Will publication be mandatory?

02:59:29
Hi Sultana: we only have financial capacity to support 2 mentors. It is possible to have 3 mentors, if one of the mentors has agreed not to receive financial compensation

03:00:05
Thanks Hallie

03:00:05
Hi Beyene: yes, the primary output of the fellowship is submission of 1 journal publication. We do not expect the article to actually be published, rather submitted for review

03:00:11
Do you have reviewers to be consulted before we submit the full proposal in case?

03:00:27
Learn more at: https://anh-academy.org/

03:00:29
You are welcome to submit a concept note to receive feedback prior to submitting a full application
