Hi! Julie here from Cambridge, Mass in the U.S.

01:03:24
How do you use digital efforts in your work?

01:03:28
In the U.S., because of the pandemic, telemedicine and telehealth have become much more widespread; however, many low-income, and older adults cannot get access to web-based tele-health because of lack of access to the Internet. Others may lack the digital skills and confidence needed to access and navigate the portal needed for these web-based health meetings. This has become a major problem of health literacy in the U.S. Is this true in other countries? Are health literacy and digital inclusion advocates working together in other countries to address this challenge?

01:04:39
More of a comment than a question, we deliver programming to older adults in rural New York State. The internet access and ability to use technology have been real barriers to the online programming - especially activities for combatting social isolation.

IHLA will save the chat and share with panelists. Please share, comment and question. This is an opportunity to make global health literacy connections.

01:17:00
Thank you, Orkan and Kevin! How are these findings communicated back to universities, and are there plans to promote digital HL of university students?

01:17:21
it looks like the model fit is very low...

01:17:31
Could the students culture influence in the level of acess and use of health information trough digital healh?

Could school libraries have a part to play in promoting health literacy in schools?

IHLA will share all slides and recording following the live session on I-hla.org

Young people generally are able to navigate on digital platforms, but are they able to understand digital health? and to understand it?

01:21:52
Q: Could the students culture influence in the level of access and use of health information though digital health?Could school libraries have a part to play in promoting health literacy in schools?May you say something about the effect sizes and how to Interpret them? R² = .06 seems very low when so many variables are analyzed.Young people generally are able to navigate on digital platforms, but are they able to understand digital health? and to understand it?Could you control for access to internet in the regression models?

and IHLA.

01:28:13
IHLA does not yet have an interest group on Digital Health Literacy. Shall we make one? anyone interested to join?

01:29:12
I would absolutely join an interest group on digital health literacy—great idea, Kristine!

01:29:35
I agree with it

01:29:36
Dear Lukas, generally yes. University students reflect a more cohesive sample. However, we see in recent years more variance (due to a tendency towards academisation, no study fees in Germany etc.) and also in this study about 20% of students perceive themselfes belonging to a lower social status group.

01:29:44
Happy to help initiate

01:29:48
I would be interested to join such a group!

01:31:04
Happy to join

01:32:07
I received and email from the HL Discussion list yesterday about starting an IHLA Digital Health Literacy interest group. All we need is one or two people to volunteer to be co-chair to start it by writing a short description of the group and emailing info@i-hla.org.

01:32:16
Could school libraries have a part to play in promoting health literacy in schools?Answer: Yes, in countries where school libraries are in place they can. Most library staff is trained in information and media literacy, which is - as seen in Dianes and our presentation - similar to health literacyYoung people generally are able to navigate on digital platforms, but are they able to understand digital health? and to understand it?

01:32:53
not clear how you fit a casual model to cross-sectional data

01:32:57
Answer: Finding seems to be easy but understanding, especially the critical understanding and critical thinking about information accessed seems to be difficult. We can see this across all age groups and studies.

01:33:39
Would you be willing to co-chair? It would be a great help.

01:35:18
Yes, totally agree - digital health literacy is a GRR in the salutogenesis and SOC framework (see Saboga-Nunes et al 2019), and therefore very important to strengthen DHL, which in turn can increase SOC.

01:36:48
@Julie: Check the Salutogenesis Umbrella (in any search engine)

01:37:01
many resources are listed their.

01:37:18
I am interested.

01:38:23
Do we know anything that can improve SOC? (Besides DHL) What is SOC?
