NseAbasi: Yes, anyone who has obtained a doctorate-level degree in any area related to ANH is eligible to apply

Does my host mentor or mentor in my previous institution need to be in same field of study or area of specialization like me?

Washaya Soul . I am looking for a Biostatistics mentor .

NseAbasi: the mentors do not need to be in the same field/area of study as you. Ideally, the experience and expertise of the mentors will complement your own expertise

Soul Washaya: the IMMANA team does not provide access to the mentors. It is the applicant's responsibility to find and propose the mentors. I would encourage you to search for biostatistics professionals within your institution and network from there.

It says you preferably would like fellows to be working in universities?Does that mean CGIAR centre applications are not eligible?

Wanjiku Gichohi: to date, the majority of our Fellows have worked in university settings. However, the Fellowship is not limited to those working in universities. A CGIAR centre application would be eligible.

Thank you for today’s sessions. Can you speak about the mentors’ qualifications, is having a PhD a requirement? What about an expert with a Masters credential and substantial experience?

Tebby Leepile: there are no specific requirements pertaining to the mentors' qualifications. We are most concerned with how well the mentor's experience and expertise will complement and support your research proposal, so please be sure to focus on how well their experience/expertise applies to your project.

I am curious on whether the program has supported any fellows working on food safety issues

I am currently still in the last year of my PhD and I understand the starting date of the fellowship is between June and December. Am I eligible to apply if I will have submitted my thesis by then but am still waiting for my viva (thesis defense)?

Sarah Redicker: the requirement of this program is that you will have obtained your PhD before the start of your Fellowship. If you expect to receive the degree prior to December 2021, then you are eligible to apply.

Is there a possibility to change host mentor if the first one in case will not be available

Beyene WA: it would be expected that you would discuss and confirm the mentor's availability prior to supporting the proposal. Should the unexpected arise and the mentor no longer be available following submission of the application, IMMANA would be open to changing the mentor.

It seems that the project can be only related to health, nutrition, or agriculture and not necessarily mixing the three area. Any clarification on it?

Hi Dora: we would be very interested in a cross-disciplinary proposal the mixes two or more of the areas

Chepchumba Chumo: it may be possible to collect new data, but given the short time frame this may not be realistically feasible. If you are in the middle of some data collection now, you could continue/finish that data collection within the Fellowship year
