Description
We have crossed a grim milestone of 100K for COVID-19 deaths. And now, the death of one man —George Floyd— has re-ignited long-held frustrations about the widespread social and economic injustices across America. But the country is keen on getting back to business. The road to re-opening diverges depending on where one lives. Unlike countries such as Germany, South Korea or New Zealand—models of nationally coordinated COVID-19 responses— the US has been a patchwork of decisions. How each state responded to the first wave of the outbreak during the critical period between March and May — their “COVID-reflex”— and their preparedness for keeping residents in remote mode— their "digital reflex"— offer important clues into which regions ought to be on a watch-out list for future waves.
Our Digital Planet team analyzed the 50 states in the US along these critical dimensions. Join us for our upcoming webinar on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 to learn the results of this essential research for timely action and how it can be used to give policymakers, business leaders and innovators a sense of the future path of COVID-19 in the US, its ultimate economic impact, and what needs to be done next. We shall explore the differences between the coastal and the heartland states and essential vulnerabilities in areas ranging from remote working and distributing stimulus relief to sustaining America's food supply.
This webinar is our second in a series that is a part of IDEA 2030: Imagining a Digital Economy for All, a research initiative by The Fletcher School’s Institute for Business in the Global Context supported by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth.
